Submit YOUR Diaspo Rico Story.

My Name is Mikey Cordero, a documentarian, photographer and creative agitator, and I started the Diaspo Rico project as a Portrait series of the beautiful and important stories of “Diasporicans' ' who are rematriating/repatriating back to the archipelago. I noticed the need for more nuanced stories of the Puerto Rican experience and our desire and calling to return to the archipelago. I know not all of us will have the same reasons or experiences. Some might be returning because they wish to explore their family’s roots, inherit an old property, or just want to feel connected to a place that speaks to them more.

For this next part of the project, I am opening up for submissions from the community. Whether you are planning on moving back, or back in Puerto Rico already, I would love to hear your story, and with your consent, I hope to use these submissions to create a digital archive open to the community and discover more stories for the audio portrait series and installation components of the project.
